save the dates are done!

now this WAS a project. it took awhile. we've been working in illustrator on the invites and saves the day on and off since march. it's been a huge collaborative effort with lots of iterations, test prints, and trial and error. it's come a long way, and in the end, i love what we have done. we hope everyone else will too.




in terms of assembly, this was easy. i cut an 8.5" by 11" sheet of paper into three 4 inch by 6 inch pieces with a paper cutter. i did that enough times to make 42 sheets. then, i printed the design onto the front, flipped, and printed the design onto the back. our printer (an epson stylus 1400) prints borderless at certain sizes, 4" by 6" being one of them so this was a really easy step and left me with no trimming after.

after cutting and printing the sheets, i bought magnet paper from staples. these were also 8.5" by 11" sheets. i laid out the magnets (3" by 2.25" if you are curious) at 9 per page, and cut them out with a paper cutter.

after getting all the magnets cut, i bought removable glue dots at micheals (REMOVABLE is the keyword here - i bought permanent the first time and that doesn't work at all! ^_^) and stuck the magnets onto the card in the empty spot.

for the labels, i custom made them in illustrator at a very weird size, cut them out on the paper cutter, then just adhered them, half is our address on the front, half is the "when life gives you lemons..." line on the back.

all in all, putting it together took little to no time.

all the work was definitely worth it. and picking a definite color palette from a few photos helped a ton in toning down the brightness of the colors.
