pinkberry tea lemonade

pinkberry tea lemonade

it's been a hot summer - we all know that lol - and lemonade is the perfect summer essential. the spice and tea exchange has some awesome lemonade kits available for purchase, but one afternoon i found myself craving some lemonade, but without the rosebuds.

what you need, food wise
2 bags starbucks passion tea (or another herbal tea that is berry/lemongrass/hibiscus based - i have also used the spice and tea exchange's berry bouquet tea)
2 cups boiling water
3/4 cup white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon raspberry extract (this can be skipped but i have some laying around)
juice of 8 lemons - freshly squeezed for sure!
5 cups water & ice

what you need, materials wise
a pitcher
a prep bowl - i use these!
if you don't feel like hand squeezing them, i guess a juicer, but i sure don't use one!
a strainer or sieve of sorts - i use these!

boil the two cups water. remove from heat, pour the water in your prep bowl, and add the tea. if if is loose leaf, i suggest just throwing it in and straining it later rather than trying to stuff the loose leaf tea in an infused=r (you need a lot and the infuser doesn't work too well).
let the tea steep for about 5 minutes, then strain the water into the pitcher.
add your sugar and raspberry extract and mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
then, wash the tea out of your prep bowl, and use the prep bowl again to juice 8 lemons. i let the pulp and seeds fall in!
strain the lemon juice into the pitcher. add 4 cups of water and 1 cup of ice (this is what i do but any mix of about 5 cups will do!)
and voila! delicious pinkberry tea lemonade
